Amp/Preamp Asylum Looking for a new Amp or Preamp? If you're after tubes, post over here. |

I have a Cairn "Limited" system. Cairn Fog 2 24/192 CD player and 4808A Integrated Amp with Jean Marie Reynaud Evolution 3 speakers.I had to buy it all blind, without audition as I live in New Zealand and we only have a limited range of English stuff available here.
Bob Neill of Positive Feedback put me on to the speakers, and Srajan Ebaen put me onto the Cairn pairing. Their reviews reflect my experience. They were both extremely helpful in my correspondence with them. I am grateful to them both.It was wonderful in my old small house - all with fibreboard walls. In my new much larger house, all solid timber and glass home it is a little lean and edgey on some music in what is a decidedly "bright" sounding room. I will make some room modifications with hangings and sound absorbent panels, but I suspect I need to get a slightly more powerful amp anyway.
The options appear to be the Cairn 4810A, Bel Canto eVo2i or the Coda-Continuum Unison 3.1 Limited. Srajan Ebaen of www.6moons.com - who originally put me on to the Cairns gives very positive reviews for the 2 U.S. items.
Which will work best for me? What changes will I hear?I'd appreciate any thoughts. I have to import "blind - without audition" again.
Thanks
ERROL
