There is some evidence that the Fisher PL-6 line of flat speakers
were manufactured in Argentina by BES, Bertagni Electroacoustic
Systems. These were made by attaching fairly conventional
voice coils to large sheets of foam. If driven hard, they had the
nasty habit of coming decoupled. After Professor Bertagni's death a decade ago, his sons continued
his company under several names - perhaps the best known was
Sound Advance Systems. You can bring up some information using the search function right
here on Audio Asylum. Other Bertagni speakers continue to be
available, you can find an antique one for sale on eBay today by
typing in "Bertagni".I heard early versions in the 70's. "Lacking bass and highs"
was the kindest remark one could make about them. I also evaluated
the Fishers as part of new construction for my home back about
1973 - my recollection from that time is that the terminal letter
denoted the decorative painting attached to each - but found the
sound so poor I never purchased any of them.Hope this is of some assistance.
