"Gunned" Maggies

Hey There Listeners, Sorry this post has taken so long to happen. It is in no way a reflection of my opinion about these "Gunned" 3.6r's. On the contrary, I have been transfixed for the past eight months and only recently have been able to elevate my jaw from the hardwood and extricate myself from my listening chair. Simply, sonically these speakers disappear and the instruments appear. The sound is life like and tangible, notes arrive and decay as intended. Listening is gateway to a bouillabaisse for all the senses to enjoy. Energy is present. The experience is engaging. Sometimes I catch myself smiling or clapping or laughing. Those of us who have been afflicted with this "audiophilia," are perpetually searching for what is found here. Are there many roads to Rome? Perhaps. In keeping with this imagery, you need only turn on the Peter Gunn navigation system to arrive there yourself.

So lets speak of Peter and his talents. He brings to his mods' an extension of himself. Audiophile, artist, engineer, perfectionist, craftsman, altruist, carpenter, inventor and critical listener. Not a bad resume if you are building speakers. When these modded maggies are resting (and when working), they are works of art. Each created by hand. The carpentry, craftsmanship and beautiful woods used, change the imposing Maggie of old into a pleasure to view. Peter is also excellent to deal with. Communication is honest, interesting and he delivers what he says. I wish more people were like this.

As you likely figured out by now, I am not a "techie", although I do apprectiate the confluence of science and art. Along with Peter's magic and the sage gear guidance of another member of this board (actually the person from whom I purchased my original 3.6r's), I am able to experience this sonic wonder. The other pieces of my orchestra in addition the "Gunned" 3.6rs are: McCormack DNA 2 Revision A amp., Aethtix Calypso pre amp, Resolution Audio Opus One GNSC Mod cdp. and Purist Audio Aqueous Anniversary interconnects and speaker cable. To this point I have not employed a conditioner but I am considering it. As stated earlier, the gear and the modded maggies combine to produce such a life like experience it is very hard to believe. Sound is where it should be and sounds as it should. It seems like there is "space" around each instrument yet the music blends appropriately. The yang to this ying is that "nothing" exists between the notes. A black backdrop is created from which the splash of sonic colour bursts or creeps or decays or ends abruptly. Isn't this the reason why we listen? My final comment for now is that these speakers create the experience the audio engineer intended when making the recording. If they have done their job, these speakers let you know....loud and clear. Hope this helps. Gumr
