Applied Fidelity has some new items for 2011.

The improved bearing, Generation 2 bearing, Delrin mat, and heavy Delrin platter mat are available for inmates with discount of 5% off the listed pricing below for inmates that order mentioning the Asylum.

I will also contribute 2.5% to the asylum when you mention you saw the offer here.

I offer two options now to the improved Technics bearing which fits all SL1200, 1500, 1600, 1700 and 1800 turntables. It is also the same as the SP 25 bearing. For those with SP 10 and SP 15 and SL 150 turntables I can modify your bearing using the same process and for the same price.

The original improved bearing will provide quieter backgrounds, pinpoint sound staging, clearer vocals, deeper and tighter bass lines, mid bass punch, and clearer highs. Its an outstanding value to improve the sound quality of your Technics turntable.

The new Gen2 bearing uses special space age plastics to eliminate all metal to metal resonance conductance. This results in a fuller expression of things like hearing the ebony tonality of a clarinet, the micro level details in percussion and the resonant wood tones of bowed instruments and accoustic Guitar. The Gen2 bearing allows the Technics platform to perform with sound quality that is life like and natural.

The extra dollars go toward a nitrided bearing shaft that will never wear or scratch in normal use. The space age plastic side wall bearing produces less resonance. The lower thrust pad and ceramic ball use a second space age plastic to produce the world's first accoustically decoupled Technics turntable bearing.

The original Technics improved bearing is $189.00 USD if you ship me your core for refitment. It is $224.00 if you prefer to keep your existing bearing.

My new Gen2 bearing is $289.00 if you ship me your core for refitment and $324.00 if you prefer to keep your existing bearing.

You can also return your old bearing to me within a month of receiving your new bearing for a $35.00 core refund. This is perfect for those who wish to hear the before and after sonics of the improved bearings.

The Delrin mats come in both black and beige. The beige is a special de-stressed and low static version of Dupont's Delrin formulations.

The Delrin mats can twist over time so its best to send me your platter and I will drill and countersink the Delrin so it can be screwed tight against the stock platter. This also provides a constrained layer damping effect which is also sonically beneficial for the Technics platform.

The Black mat is $179.00 and the Beige is $219.00. The countersinking service is free with the mat as long as you ship me your platter. It will also be polished before returning it.

The heavy mat nearly doubles the rotational mass of the platter. I have been running my 3 lb mat now for almost a year. You will hear better stability in sustained notes as well as more solidity and PRaT.

The black Delrin heavy mat is $249.00 and the beige Delrin heavy mat is $279.00.

The mat is manufactured from a plate of 6061 aluminum and the Delrin is counter sunk to this piece. I paint the top and bottom surfaces of the aluminum with Hammerite finish paint to eliminate corrosion and reduce resonance. The finished product weighs three pounds. The stock platter is 4.4 pounds.

All of my Gen2 bearings come 0.220 inches taller than stock to accomodate the heavy mat as well as the copper mats on the marketplace.

I offer you a "my life time" guarantee on the bearing's ceramic ball and thrust surface. I also warranty the Gen2 side wall bearing for life.

If you order both the bearing and a mat or heavy mat, or order two or more bearings at a time I will provide a 10% discount for your order.

Shipping is $10.00 for the bearing. Shipping is $15.00 if shipping a heavy mat. Shipping is $22.00 - 28.00 if returning a platter and delrin mat. I always combine shipping to help save as much as possible.

You can pay me by paypal or by US Postal Money order. My paypal address is jim.howard@appliedfidelity.com

This same bearing material can be adapted to any turntable utilizing a ball and thrust surface. So far I have upgraded RekOKut, VPI, Michell, Yamaha, and Lenco bearings. These bearing modifications are very affordable and dramatically improve the overall experience on these tables. Email me if you have other tables you would like to improve.

If you are International, please provide me with the country and postal code to determine the appropriate shipping expense.
