This same bearing material can be adapted to any turntable utilizing a ball and thrust surface. So far I have upgraded RekOKut and Lenco bearings. These bearing modifications are very affordable and dramatically improve the overall experience on these tables. Email me if you have other tables you would like to improve.
An machineable plastic platter mat is now available for the Technic’s SL1200. This is precision machined to fit the Technic’s platter and looks right on the table.
The material has a similar impedence match to vinyl. The surface of the platter mat is machined to follow the slope of most modern recordings. This provides the flattest possible surface contact during playback.
I recommend using a light record clamp if using this improved platter mat.
My three alpha testers document improvements to the low bass, mid bass, and midrange.
The platter mat will be available separately for $199.00 USD or you can purchase both the improved bearing and the platter mat for $389.00 USD. This gives you the opportunity to hear the stock bearing vs the improved bearing and acetyl platter mat which is a fascinating experience.
