In 1932 a local cafe in San Antonio Texas had corn chips on their menu. That chip recipe was purchased by Charles Elmer Doolin, for which he paid $100 dollars. Mr. Doolin then began cooking up Fritos Corn Chips in his mother's kitchen, and then sold them out of his car, a Model T Ford. But that's only the first half of the Fritos story. In the early 1930s Herman W. Lay started a snack food delivery business, which later contributed to the formation of Frito-Lay Inc. in 1961. This merger eventually resulted in the formation of PepsiCo in 1965, which now oversees the Fritos brand.
PepsiCo is now a global food and beverage giant with much higher income than the Ford Motor Company. In 2023 PepsiCo's net income was 9 billion, compared to Ford's 2 billion.
Yup, other consumer products made a big splash in 1932 other than the 1932 Ford Roadster. BTW, excellent work on that model car!
