RE: not to change the subject, but here's a salmon

Count your blessings is all I can think of. I'm a city kid, but know enough to appreciate the wonders of nature. I have even been around salmon a bit , from sailing into Alaska from the Seattle area.

In Seattle , I saw a guy buying nice big salmon, presumably for a restaurant. only time I have seen the special little food grade stick used to run along the gutted body to check for the suppleness of the flesh.

in Alaska, the longshoreman gave us salmon that hung off of each side of the BBQs we had back aft, made from 55 gallon drums. although that story hardly seems creditable now that I retell it, but it was a memorable visual image. The bitch was the ships cook was so inept, that he ruined the crab legs secured on the previous voyage, before I joined the ship, so the captain wouldn't buy any more.
