My problem is a joint problem. It's mostly arthritis, but the pain is from muscles eing strained by joint stiffness. I've gone through lots of hiking shoes and footbeds.
I've found out that shoes for healthy hikers don't always work for people with foot problems, and every foot problem is different.
So far, I'm using Altra Olympus 5 with a Sole footbed. The Olympus 5 looks like most hiking/ trail running shoes, but is more substantial in side stiffness(side support).
It's biggest strength is It's massive cushioning that feels like walking on a sponginess. That feels so good in walking that I go further and longer.
