Problem is the USA is so spread out.
I took a train once from San Diego to Santa Barbara. 1st class 'up' and regular on return.
On the way out? The train ran over a beach chair and ruptured a high pressure air fitting for the brakes.
We sat there for HOURS and got home maybe 11pm or so.
So much for American Trains.
