Off-road use diesel is substantially cheaper than road-use diesel (no taxes), but it is dyed red. If you are driving a diesel truck or car and they "stick the tank"--red is dead. They will insert a dipstick into your fuel tank with a white swab on the end. If it comes out red, you face serious fines and/or impoundment of your vehicle.
