...and I thought that I posted a link a while back to an article that addressed this issue in CA--the largest domestic (US) market for EVs. Apartment and condo dwellers are experiencing difficulty with availability of charging stations, both at-home and in public parking garages/lots.

There is currently an on-going legal battle over revisions to the building codes that would require a certain number/percentage of EV-charging equipped parking spaces. Many older "community" residential structures/developments would require millions of dollars in infrastructure upgrades to meet these requirements/objectives.

I own an EV (Tesla Model S), and I have a 220-240V charger at home, so it has not been an issue, and my on-board GPS will direct me to available charging locations, should I need one, but they're not on every street-corner like gas stations. What happens if you "run out of gas"--or fuel/energy/charge--whatever you want to call it? AAA just doesn't show-up on the side of the road with a 5 gal can of "energy" or a set of jumper cables and you're on your way.

With mandates and proposed objectives for EVs, the infrastructure to support them just isn't there--yet, and not likely by 2030 or 2035--the dates that are being heavily bantered-about. And carrying around a 110-120V extension cord/charging cable doesn't help much. The charging-rate is brutally slow.

Once again--the cart is ahead of the horse--on this one.
