I'll be interested to see how people respond to things in Berkeley, California, in the coming weeks and months.

But, yes, as another poster noted, they could have used baguettes. I distinctly remember being served a "hard as a rock" baguette for breakfast at our hotel in Nice many years ago. I don't know if they disliked Americans, or if they were just stupid. Never stayed at that hotel ever again.
