My dad used to supply us with it. We just popped it in a pan with a lid on. You did have to shake the pot to keep from burning it.
One day just before a game I went to pop some and saw bugs hatched out and moving around in the mason jar. The larvae had been inside the kernels previously and just added a bit of protein. You could see tiny holes where the bugs had bored out. My wife wouldn't eat my dads "organic" home grown popcorn after that.
