RE: Hypocrisy in your posts

Maybe you don't realize this but I am a guest in Hong Kong and Hong Kong isn't China. Leanring about the world outside the US is helpful.

I am not Chinese and not Born in China - I was born in Canada - my Mom is Welsh. I have lived in Canada, Australia, Wales, South Korea, China, and Hong Kong. I have been to the USA too many times to count. My parents lived half the year in the USA - we are on the border - we get all your media, shows. So if anyone knows about the USA it's Canadians.

I am critical of all presidents in the USA not just Trump. The difference is that with Trump I was critical of him as a human being and the hypocrisy of so called Christians who support a man who uses Christianity as a mere prop to dupe people.

That may surprise you because I am an atheist so I don't believe in any religion but it bothers me almost more than anything else when some USES a religion and people's faith to get them to part with their money and even their integrity to their belief system.

China is a sleeping dragon that America chose to wake and do business with - President Nixon opened the door to China. America taught China American capitalism and 40 years later complain when China out capitalists the US.

China doesn't have a leader who says idiotic things every single day so there is less to "pick-on".

Hong Kong's freedoms are disappearing daily - but it's not like China didn't warn them. In 1997 China told HK that it would be one country and two systems until 2047. The whole world knows this - it is a written agreement. In 2047 it will be one country and one system the Chinese system. It is 2020 and the move has begun to get ready for that 2047 change.

I lived in China - have you? Many Americans have moved to China - the bogeyman of China isn't a Bogeyman for people who actually moved there and lived there. Yes there are less freedoms but the day to day life isn't really impacted the way the news media portrays.

I also criticize Canada and leaders whether they are on the far left, left center, center, right center, or far right. I criticize the guy I vote for and don't blindly follow a team. I recently blasted Joe Biden on this forum until it was taken down. In Canada I have voted for 4 political parties out of the 6. One party only runs in Quebec so they are not on the ticket in BC. And the newer right wing party is basically the KKK. So the 4 major parties have won my vote at least once.

The president in your country is an EMPLOYEE - he is not an elected King for 4 years. You should be critical of your employees.

China has a dictator - criticize him all you like but nothing will change. To change a dictator requires governments to use a carrot and stick approach - and with a massive economy and massive population and massive military - the carrot is probably the better approach. Nuance negotiations and allowing China to save face. In other words intricate negotiations are required by people who actually read books on Chinese culture and listen to advisors on how to deal with China. Blundering in like a bull in a China shop is not the way to go. And if your leader is a bull - then at least hire people who know something not just your kids and their husbands and wives.

Be critical of everyone. This is an English speaking board and the topics are usually focused on North American issues.

America is "fixable" in the sense that people can run for office and vote for people who actually want to improve the country - policies can be enacted - you can arrest the corrupt. Being critical of the USA can shine a light on problems and those problems can actually be solved.

You can't do that in China. I mean you can a little bit but at the end of the day - the Red Party rules and what they say goes. It's not "fixable" through grassroots movements because if you stepo out of line they'll shoot you and while they shoot unarmed protesters and black people for kicks in the US - at least those bad cops are held accountable (at least some of the time). In China - it is state ordered.

What happens in America has a much larger effect on Canada and Europe as well. That is why outsiders who are allied (mostly) with the US are vocal. When idiotic tariffs are put on Canadian Softwood Lumber or Aluminum etc a it affects us and our jobs. If it is one party in your country who keeps going against international law and always loses in court on the same thing over and over and over again - it affects us. We become more engaged in what happens down there.

Lastly, I have a lot of American friends who say the same thing on my Facebook page. If I were American saying these things would you still have an issue? Is it the message or the messenger? Over 80 million Americans voted against Trump. You have many Americans born and raised who say the exact same things I do and are far FAR more critical of America's leadership than I.
