RE: Notice how 'tolerance' abruptly left the lexicon?

What prompts me? The word 'tolerance' really was pervasive in usage. In education, community groups, cultural groups - was ubiquitous as part of the platitudes one hears or reads in these groups promoting their missions. My wife watches the local news at night, I heard it over and again. It is now largely gone.

YES, I have seen what I also consider to be atrocious behavior defended upon the basis of cultural 'tolerance'. YES, it makes me want to puke. I'm not advocating that in the least. Please.

BUT, if I come out and say I differ on any one of a number of cultural, economic, or political issues (*gasp* I said political in the Asylum), I'm a bigot, a whatever-phobe. There is NO tolerance for difference of opinion or thought - from a very narrow set of parameters. I can be shamed in media, doxed, shunned by the community, have pressure applied to my employer. If I'm in government or education, I might lose my job.

I believe 'tolerance' has been quietly set aside as there is now more to be had in intolerance.

Agree, disagree, ignore, or think I'm full of crap, as you like.
