Yup - I'm a fan of Matt Taibbi's articles too - we can agree on that!

I generally do not read or listen to Murdoch media - so it's hard for me to comment on something which I have mostly second-hand knowledge of. (However, I've heard that Murdoch has turned over the operations of some of his media holdings to his son(s?) and that there has been an improvement in some of these news sources since this occurred. I guess we'll see.) When I've watched Fox News, it's generally been to watch Tucker Carlson - and I don't always disagree with him by any means. I was serious when I said that the nominally left-wing sources (again, I mean the corporate left like the NY Times) have positions on certain issues which are to the right of nominal right-wing sources. And these days, I believe that CNN is, overall, more FOS than Fox News is - although neither is to be trusted. If that's false equivalency to you, then we have to agree to disagree.

Although the Times did publish a big mea culpa article about their coverage of the Iraq War (as you noted), I think that that may have been an exception to the rule. Quite often their corrections and retractions are found way in the back (on page 34 or something), in the smallest typeface they can use, well after the damage from their original misreporting is done.

BTW, you asked for another example of NY Times misreporting in connection with US military adventurism. Unfortunately, there are all too many of them. Here's a very recent one, as reported on the Counterpunch site (link below), and I quote this excerpt from that Counterpunch article:
President Bill Clinton's favorite freedom fighter just got indicted for mass murder, torture, kidnapping, and other crimes against humanity. In 1999, the Clinton administration launched a 78-day bombing campaign that killed up to 1500 civilians in Serbia and Kosovo in what the American media proudly portrayed as a crusade against ethnic bias. That war, like most of the pretenses of U.S. foreign policy, was always a sham.

Kosovo president Hashim Thaci was charged with ten counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity by an international tribunal in The Hague in the Netherlands charged Thaci and nine other men with a "war crimes, including murder, enforced disappearance of persons, persecution, and torture." Thaci and the other charged suspects were accused of being "criminally responsible for nearly 100 murders" and the indictment involved "hundreds of known victims of Kosovo Albanian, Serb, Roma, and other ethnicities and include political opponents." But the American media's ludicrous bias and/or incompetence on that war continues. The New York Times responded to Thaci's indictment with a tweet declaring that "Serbia's leader was indicted for war crimes."

IOW, the Times got the reporting completely backwards - it was the Kosovan leader (not the Serbian leader) who was indicted for war crimes! You say that I'm always posting about how bad the NY Times is, but, believe me, I've actually been restrained in posting about how the Times misleads and/or misinforms its readers (compared to the number of times I could have posted!).

As for politicians, yes, I can tell the difference between folks like Pelosi and McConnell too. However, in their different ways, they are equally FOS. Remember last year's military appropriations bill? Pelosi had been going around yapping about what an existential threat Trump was to the country, and how he was controlled by Putin, etc., etc. - and then she turns around and gives this same existential threat to our country $20 billion more than he asked for as the military's Commander In Chief! Some threat!
