Inmate Central, where civil and family-friendly discourse about off-audio topics (other than religion and politics) is welcome.

It's already a bigger deal than you might think...

...previously arid lands have been utilized as/converted to farmland via deep-well drilling and irrigation. Then, of course, you build a community around these farmlands in the desert--which demand even MORE water. Increased demand, and lack of adequate replenishment of the acquifer literally "runs it dry". Then they attempt to "dig deeper", and soon, even that fails. The "ghost towns" I speak-of are very real--and only a couple decades-old. They literally have run-out of water to support what was built there. People are abandoning homes and entire farms, because it is not economically feasible to restore the water-supply. This has been happening for a number of years, at this point.

Climate/environmental change has had an effect, but, basically, it boils-down to the basics--there's a reason that there weren't farms and communities here in the first place--it was never "sustainable".

"And today is for sale and it's all you can afford. Buy your own admission. The whole things got you bored. Well the Lord chooses the good ones, and the bad ones use the Lord"--a very dear friend for decades Michael Stanley (Gee)--RIP
