I saw Carter campaigning for the presidency at Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley, CA. This was in the mid 1970's. Our high school journalism class went to see him speak.

BTW, I gave my Dad a similar hard hat for his golf game as a gag gift. He smacked a golf ball that ricocheted off a tree trunk leaving a big ugly bump on his forehead. ;-)
