Used it on PC, Mac, and UNIX. Compared to MS Office, OpenOffice was crap for anything more than the most simple tasks.
When I worked for Sun were forced to use it as we were anti-MS. I continued to use it after Sun was acquired by MS. Finally got fed up with it's quirks and found MS Office to be SO MUCH more polished and reliable.
Just my opinion based on a few years with OpenOffice then switching to MS Office.
