RE: cameras, lenses

the tirescape pic was with a Canon 7D/tokina 11-16/f2.8 wide angle lens. The 7D is getting kinda old now. It came out in 2009 and I picked mine up second hand maybe 4 yrs ago. It's always been great for birds in flight because it tracks well and locks on, although for birds, I'd use a different lens. The Tokina lens I got last year; another Craigslist item. It's got a pretty good rep as a superwide/fast lens. The trick to using it is to have something interesting way up in the foreground.

The other two were taken with my first iPhone, an iPhone 4. I've had two iPhones since then but still like the way that 4 takes pics, for some reason. I used an app called 'Hipstamatic' for the locoweed flower. It's a shooting app, as opposed to an editing app. Lots of filter combinations to choose ahead of time, then shoot. The restaurant back door was also iPhone 4, and I think I used an app called 'Pure', but I can't tell for sure now because that phone doesn't work to check it. I liked that app because it captured in an uncompressed TIFF file, I think.

thanks for looking!
