I had a Porsche 944 back in the day. Thought I had a hole in the exhaust, and asked the deal what a new muffler would run me. $800 (just the part). When I asked what the hell it was made of, he replied "Unobtainium". With a smile!
Fortunately all that had happened was that an exhaust sensor tube had come loose, and all we had to do was re-attach it.
I had the car twelve years, and other than scheduled maintenance items, the only "part" I had to replace was a windshield wiper motor.
