So.. IMO this really means a zero percent chance of off world survival over the long haul.
Taking a machine into space would require total reuse of everything for hundreds of years, plus the assurance the new idiots born to the aging population would BE capable of learning what to do. And that the old crew could teach them. This is really unlikely, unless some genetic engineering was going on. The damage from cosmic rays and the Solar wind would kill off everyone anyway if they were hanging around within the Solar system.
Even just lasting 100 years on Mars would be a near impossible feat without constant imports from Earth. "

Much of what you write is true.

Multiple disaster scenarios for manned interplanetary space flight await for every attempt, regardless of safety procedures and spacecraft technology. Getting off of Earth and surviving longterm on another world is fraught with problems and perils which will not be overcome.

We've already had multiple disasters just trying to get 300 miles above Earth. Challenger and Columbia. Before those, the Apollo program killed three astronauts IN A TEST, and we nearly lost another three on Apollo 13. I recognize that there are people here who don't know the history. All of these disasters happened with "modern technology, equipment and thinking".

Colonizing Mars, Venus or the Moon? Seriously?
