He finally made it...

He went from being homeless and unemployed to selling a single painting for up to $25,000 in just a matter of several years under the tutelage of Andy Warhol. But sadly enough he died young of a drug overdose.

"Tonight, Jean-Michel Basquiat entered the pantheon of artists whose works have commanded prices over $100 million, including Picasso, Giacometti, Bacon, and Warhol," said Gregoire Billault, head of Sotheby's Contemporary Art Department in New York.

His art style may not be for everybody but for some who understood his sensibilities towards his own culture, it's an eye-opening experience.
