Amazon has an amazing logistics operation. They must have a distribution center in your area. They use sales and demographic data to predict buying patterns in each geography and stock their DCs accordingly. Talk is they are analyzing INDIVIDUAL buying patterns and pre-staging/pre-shipping replenishable stuff to you about the time you need it

I had a similar experience a few years ago - I decided I needed new earbuds before we left town for a cruise. I ordered them from Amazon about 2pm on afternoon, and they were on my doorstep the next morning about 10:30.
