I don't mow any more, at all.? Mulch, shrubs and ground covers. which I've been doing for over a decade now. Cut our water usage by 30%.
This is an older pile of mulch still waiting for 'Mr. Slack-arse of the hernias and cancer' to get his pelvic floor back to normal.
Canberra has a lot of old / damaged trees, and inappropriate plantings of gum trees, which. So there are a lot of trees being taken out. So that' how I've been getting wood-chip, including from trees planted earlier by the first owners (lessees) of the house and block.
Yesterday there were a team of arborists with two trucks and a cherry picker crane, just up the road taking out two big Territory planted gum trees threatening a house.
We had a chat. I gave them a case (24 x 330 mil bottles) of their suggested beer for $45, and got a nice big load of wood chip. Which they didn't need to take to the tip and pay business level fees for!
I am thinking about hiring a small 'dingo' machine / driver to do the job.
Otherwise it's rake, shovel and wheel-barrow work for days and days, and days. Just topping up what's there already.
As you can confirm by looking at my recent posts Canberra is a dry place varying between Mediterranean and semi-arid.
All shots taken today.
Warmest
