I'm still using a 23 year old Murray push mower with a Tecumseh engine, which I bought new. You're right, with proper maintenance, they can often last a long time.

I'm testing my luck, it would seem. My mower is 23 years old, my car is 17, my house's HVAC system is at least 20, stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, washer and dryer are all 20 too, and my TV is over 30 years old. If everything goes at once, I'll go broke trying to replace it all.

One of my motorcycles is 43 years old, but that's not a disposable item.
