Reminds me of the rather colorful proprietor of a pub in northern England.

After being served a dram of good single malt, a patron asked for some water. Gus the proprietor, in typical Gus fashion, looked him in the eye and responded, "You put water in that and I'll throw you out of my pub!" Another Gus vignette occurred when he was asked which of the whiskys of Islay would be considered the smoothest. His response was classic: "They don't do smooth."

Each to his own I guess, but if I can't drink it straight up, I don't want it at all. Although I was recently gifted some whisky stones that are kept in the freezer, and placed in the glass right before pouring. It cools the dram a bit without watering it down. I have to admit that it's an improvement.
