There is a lot being written about this along with a recent vote in Switzerland to provide non workers a living wage. The proposal was defeated. Another article predicted people would be paid to play video games so that the employed would have opponents for their gaming recreational time.
Voltaire's Candide premise is that man is only happy when productive. Things are changing so quickly, it is difficult to predict where this will go, and how people will adapt. Unfortunately biological evolution is a lot slower than technological advancement.
