I have a silly question...

Instead of resigning, could you have gotten laid off or fired instead?

And does this affect eligibility for unemployment benefits?

If I understand this correctly, you cannot get unemployment benefits if you quit a job.... but if you're fired or laid off you can. Is this correct?

Way back in the 1980's I walked off a job with no notice because my boss was being a spineless dweeb. Me and a co-worker just up and left the same day. It felt good at the time and for a couple months, but then the bills started piling up and I had to scramble for a new job! Racked up some debt on the credit card too until reality finally hit. I needed a job, and fast! Yikes.
