The F2.8 model is, among some photo-optics-philes, the tits, mostly 'cause it's expensive. But, what they don't know is that the F4 has better glass.
And, who ever needs F2.8 for focussing?
Plus, the F4 is better suited to taking action shots of your kiddo. One F-stop isn't worth the extra poundage - especially in the digital age.
