First saw one in the Spring of 1976 walking a ridge between two river valleys near the Mass Vermont line.I had never seen one in the wild before but knew right away what it was . A thrill back then but a common sighting now and as many as 50 gleaning a corn field at times.Still a thrill to walk along a wood line next to a pasture ,sense the need to look up and see a turkey looking down at you.
