I went to the AMA website seeking some information.
They have a study of insurance markets which I'd love to see. Even just the executive summary would tell me SomeThing. But no, it'd cost 150$ or 'free' if I were a member.
The AMA, which is a Non-Profit had 2014 revenues EXCEEDING 260,000,000$
SAYING it, one way or the other, doesn't make it so. I realize that. But I sure would like to try something new. State based 'Marketplace' doesnt' take (Full) advantage of economies of scale.
California, for example, has only about 1.5 million registered of a state population of just short of 40 million. That's <4% enrolled. Small states seem to suffer with few choices.
