Inmate Central, where civil and family-friendly discourse about off-audio topics (other than religion and politics) is welcome.

Is every post a troll?

To answer my own question: in some ways, yes, every post is troll-like to the extent that each post is requesting attention of some sort, or at least fishing for knowledge from one of the other inmates. Or better, as Bagsgroove stated quite nicely below: a sense of community.

And a cyber community is an interesting one indeed. The asylum provides that sense of community by allowing those of us with this rather esoteric hobby to meet and chat with each other. "Inmate Central", in particular, shows us that we are interested as much in community as in audio--we don't have to talk about audio to have this sense of community.

That being said, there seems to be a fundamentally different quality to the actual trolls. Posts such as Muzikmike's are requesting an honest EXCHANGE of communication, a sharing of sorts, and an openness.

Trolls, such as many by "sane audiophile" in General, are not interested in exchange of information; "sane" does not appear to be interested in communication, exchange of information; rather s/he appears interested in collecting as many responses as possible, putting them in his/her little leather pouch, and dancing on to the next rather meaningless post.

I've blabbered on long enough...nice original post, and thoughtful responses...
