which causes me to feel that simply neutering those really responsible would not quite satisfy my sense of outrage... Castration with a rusty saw would be likely to a) be very painful indeed and b) also act as a focus "pour encouragez les autres"...

The defending dog involved was a "mature" 9-year old (which approximately equates to humans in their 60s), may well have realised that he was completely outclassed, but attacked to defend a youngster anyway... This is a characteristic that UK Staffordshire Bull-Terriers have been known to frequently adopt, which is perhaps surprising bearing in mind that folk in other countries (eg the USA?) apparently regard this breed of dogs as inherently dangerous...

ANY dog is capable of doing harm to an infant, and any of the larger breeds are capable of harming children or adults... Apart from one notable example, I am convinced that there are NO inherently evil and aggressive dogs, but there appear to be lots of lazy and careless owners, and (sexually inadequate?) owners who like to feel that they own a dog that is "tough"...

Life has to be very bad for any dog that is taken on by such pathetic inadequates and is then deliberately taught to be nasty and aggressive...

Bill.
