Reliability Problems

Audis have 'em.... as do BMWs and Mercedes. Plus, the Krautmobiles cost more, at a given performance level, than comparable Japanese models. I'm far from "locked in" on the Avalon and Infiniti. but those are the two leading contenders as of right now.

I'd probably go with the new Avalon almost without thinking about it except that the 2007 version is 7 inches longer and 2.5 inches wider than the one we have now. And most of the expansion is in the wrong area - cavernous rear seat that we'd almost never use. Still, it's a handsome car that rides and handles well, and offers the famed Toyota reliability.

On the other hand, the G35 is a real ball to drive, and more sensibly sized.
