Just bin watching a DVD about them, I grew up listening to our big 60's pulling long train loads of coal from the Redhead colliery virtually on the beach, up from the dunes over the escarpment and on up to Lambton heights and Adamastown.

Headed for the big coal loader in Newcastle harbour or to the steel works to become coke or for power.

Whoomph, ........ whoomph as they started the climb.
