Some suggestions needed re music

Elder daughter has teamed-up with a few friends and the group will be consolidating orders to Amazon.com to achieve a saving in shipping costs (at least, that's the stated theory...)

After a couple of abortive trips to local music stores where I encountered absolute indifference, disorder, ignorance, and downright rudeness, I've decided to accept elder daughter's offer to piggy-back and order 3 or 4 CD's as a "trial-run".

My challenge here is what to order...

I've only managed to come up with one possible candidate so far:

- "Dylanesque" (Bryan Ferry)

So, my request to this oh so erudite group is quite simple; how about some suggestions of worthwhile CD's to order...

(BTW, I already have two back-channels for new vinyl, so this will be purely a CD purchase - I still have some concerns about shipping vinyl in small quantities, with mental images of official stamp-marks obliterating half the tracks).

The musical genres I'm interested in are:

- Nostalgia rock (1960's to early 1980's)
- Jazz instrumental (Brubeck-ish, Jarrett-ish and the like)
- Jazz vocal (Krall-ish, Cole-ish, etc.)
- New Age (more Narada than later Windham Hill)
- Other jazz (eg Creed Taylor re-issues?)

So, please wrack your brains and come up with some ideas (my brain is non-functional at the moment).

BTW, while browsing Amazon, I spotted this:

:but on reading a blurb, decided that, while she might be very easy on the eyes, she's unlikely to appeal to the Ears... :-(

In a similar vein, I might also consider one or two classic movie DVD's on this purchase and have a similar problem in terms of local stores and their attitudes and inventories. One or two candidate titles so far:

- The Man in the White Suit (Alec Guinness - Ealing Studios)
- The Lavender Hill Mob (Alec Guinness - Ealing Studios)

(I am also considering one of the boxed sets of Ealing Studios early comedies...)

Any other suggestions?
