....They were a very comfortable ride.(it is a bit hard to explain how it "feels") It was a unique feeling of looking out the porthole and seeing the water disappear. You didn't actually "feel" that the craft was 'rising'. I travelled from Manly wharf to Circular Quay in Sydney.Nothing like them in service now.
In Queensland a number “Fast Cats†operate to ferry people on day trips to some of the Islands or sight-seeing etc. They are the only vessels operating that can carry large numbers of people at the same types of speed the hydrofoils used to cruise at.
There is also some much larger “Cats†operating between Melbourne & Hobart that cross Bass Straight.
