Inmate Central, where civil and family-friendly discourse about off-audio topics (other than religion and politics) is welcome.

Have seen it, but not read it...

... as I've never really been an avid history student - I used get flak from history masters at school for passing comments like:

"Why would I want to study History? I mean, there's no future in it!"

I do, every now and then, get the urge to delve back into the past, but normally in the context of other countries - to plug the gaps in my knowledge and to help understand where each country has come from and why they have wound up what they are today.

Having had SA history pumped into me at school for far too many years (and by some of the most boring farts ever to populate this planet of ours), I've tended to shy away from local history and have found other regions' history more attractive (China, South America, Scandinavia, etc. are far more intriguing from my perspective.

Then again, Timbo, from your perspective Africa's history may - for virtually the same reason - be of interest to you.

It is this type of difference of perspective and focus that, if fostered and encouraged, would make this planet an interesting place to live - but, unfortunately, it's tended to be these very same differences that have resulted in wars throughout history.

It always make me wonder if humanity really deserves the planet Earth...
