Ahh Bill, Collies, eh? the Eleventh member of our group on Saturday was a fully mature Border Collie male called Shadow

On a leash, and he was a BIG hit with everyone else in the group, specially ME, and all t'other walkers we ran into, and their dogs. They have to be on a lead to minimise interaction with wildlife. Shadow is past 8 I'd reckon. A LOT of grey on his muzzle but not in his eyes or expression IYTMMeaning {:~)} ! Or his pace!!

Shadow is an RSPCA adoptee - who was about to be put down and was saved for THAT reason alone. The staff's decision was because no-one would take him - because he was 'TOO cringey!!!!!' Long time back, now there's no sign of a cringe in him. He used to hide at the site of a stick in anyone's hand I'm told.

Now many walkers in our group use those purpose built trekking sticks avec spikes and hand straps, as my wife does. One of which I will be buying for ME, this very morning, on SPECIAL.

Not a sign of fear from Shad as, remembering Trisha, he bounced up to her that huge brush of a tail almost enveloping her, paws up on her waste for a cuddle, and face rub, little noises of pleasure as they greeted each other. Tish took a shine to Shadow at a group BBQ at HIS place last year. She's had it with pets though so we're not getting a dog.

Collies and BC's - there IS an air of alertness about them that is calm at the same time, eh?

And that Border Collie 'permanent GRIN'!!!!! As if WE'VE forgotten what a blast living is!!! But he hasn't!
