I posted this in General by accident and am being justifiably crucified. This post is now home. Replies welcome.
We are contemplating having a stone surround installed to replace the very generic marble surround the original builder put in. We have interviewed two masons, neither of which have made me confident that they would do a good job and/or understand the structural limitation of my house.
Anyone done this? If so, how did it come out? and what to watch out for?
