There was a place in Columbus, OH on the North edge of German Village (Katzinger's Deli) that made sandwiches like that. First glance at the menu board, and the prices would make you choke, but a full sandwich would easily feed 2-3 people, and they had the self-service pickle barrels in the dining area, as well--one for Kosher dill, and the other for Garlic dill, and the pickles were the size of small to medium cucumbers, not typical "pickle size".
