I'm on record of previously saying that the main reason to roast your own is that you get access to beans you probably wouldn't get otherwise. Reasons? Not popular enough, smaller quantities (micro lots), Different lots/crops tasting different, price etc. Lots of other reasons. That's what makes it worth it to me. Am I a better roaster than the pros? No. Certainly not the really good ones, maybe some of the not so good ones. :-)
It's not for everyone, but it does have it's advantages.
