I believe the moderator said that he reacts to posts that people alert him to - so if someone can't take what you post they "alert the moderator."
Rod is also correct that heated posts carry over to other forums on AA and also to other forum sites.
I have said this many times but in the end, the people you argue with on this forum are not people you would EVER associate with in real life - they would never be someone that you would phone up and go to a ball game with or have a beer. I don't associate with People who support the Proud Boys or who support people who say there are good people in that group or support people who say Stand back and stand by. I would not be friends with people with homophobic views or who support curtailing the freedom of gay people or women etc.
The forum is where you wind up associating with these people - and because we're not used to these people because we find their beliefs abhorrent then perhaps we want to "educate" them out of their mind-beggeringly views.
You're talking to the mindsets of Marjorie-Taylor Green and David Duke. Again you're talking to the deplorables you would emigrate to avoid.
The problem with the forum though is that a lot of folks feel empowered to say what they can't say in person. I try to remind them that coming onto a forum with a fake name doesn't make you anonymous - I can find the home address of anyone on this forum if I really want to. If I can do it then so can other people.
