The thrust of that report which you skimmed and whatever level that reviewer desired is that an amp which did the job with a 3.7 did not do the job with a 3.7i. As you, I take all comments with that grain of salt, that everyone probably also uses. Nothing compares with making one's own decisions after having lived with their system, playing a large variety of music using ensembles of various sizes and which should include vocal, instrumental, electronic and all recordings with which one has great familiarity so you know what to expect and what might be possible.
I hate doing half-assed jobs. Hypothetically, unless I could manage buying the Magtech (or its better), I see no value in putzing around with a 3.7i.
