I cannot give you technical reason as to why your Sansui sounds so good next to the "new" stuff. Never owned a pair of Maggies but they are one the wish list. Once again the 70's strike. There was a lot of well built amps and receivers back then. You got a good match with that Sansui and your Maggies. Thats what it is--a good match. Just like my Pioneer QX-8000 and my JBL L100's and a pair AR 4X on the rear,another good match! Who would guess. Not much call for the old 8000 Quads. Its musically very nice with these speakers. It beat my Piopneer SX 850 and a QX 949 Quad that were hooked to these speakers.

You have nothing in that Sansui. I have $47 in the 8000. The fun and satisfying part is the low cost with a real nice sound. Enjoy! Happy New Year!!
