Re: Recomendations on Marantz receivers.

Did you know that there were actually four variations of Marantz 22xx receivers in the 1970's?

I've had them all, and I can tell you from my own experience that they got better as they went on, so my pick would be something from the '4th and last generation' (1978-1980) of the 70's. These excelled the earlier models with a more open, melodic sound, superior tuners and a superbly improved tactile feel as well. They don't look to bad either! :)
Since you seem to be a man of means, my advice is "don't skimp". Go for an upper level model like a 2265b or 2285b. Hold out for one that's in tip-top shape and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how great they were!
