I have replaced most the resistors in my Scott 299B with
Riken Ohm 1% Carbon films. I love the way they
sound. However there are few values that they do
not come in such as 1/2W 2.2Mohms. I am looking
to replace resistors(R17, R35, R49) and their
corresponding channels ones as well. I believe these
go to the grids of V1, V2a and V3b. Would it be wise
to use a cheaper unknown brand carbon film from
Antique Electronic supply to keep the warmth of the
carbon films or use a higher quality metal film or
wirewound type? I know the carbon films are not
great for tolerances and all but at least the Rikens
are 1% and very good. Does it really matter in these
locations?
