I posted a humorous reply to Pete's post, but in all seriousness, you now understand what the Onkyo afficionados have been raving about. I have a 1988-89 vintage TX-870, and the characteristic sound is still there, 20 years later. In receivers and integrated amps, they kind of lost the vintage sound after 1990 or so. The newer TX-8211 and 8511 are still pretty decent but don't sound the same, and don't have the low impedance power or the tuner performance the earlier models have.
