According to the linky below, there was a long history of Lafayette
It did indeed manufacture equipment - some of it well respected
The early history of radio, and Television including the rest of HiFi equipment is quite interesting-
I am ~30% into a book titled Master Switch, by Tim Wu which goes into the history at a deep level, though mostly about the majors and control of the industry, not specific manufacturers. There was a time before the Great depression /WWII when Radio was a Wild West, and there were many companies that made components and equipment- I am sure that Allied was similar and actually manufactured equipment. There was also a HUGE DIY movement after WWII with all the GIs who came home with technical skills and experience.
